Some features of the study

Randomized Clinical Trial
Two parallel groups, with concealment of allocation and analysis by intention to treat.

Main objective
To compare the effects of continuous and prolonged prone position versus intermittent daily prone on 28-day mortality, in patients with moderate to severe ARDS.

Primary outcome
28-day mortality.
Secondary outcome
All-cause mortality at 60 and 90 days / Days without mechanical ventilation and ICU at 28 days / Days without hospital at 28 and 90 days / Use of rescue procedures / Incidence of pneumothorax until day 7 / Pressure ulcers on day 3 and 7, by grade and location / Adverse events potentially related to the prone position up to day 7.
